Congrats to Jeff Schultz
In tonight's Caps/Maple Leafs tilt, Jeff Schultz netted his first career NHL goal. Michael Nylander found Shultz in the high slot, Schultz then ripped a wrist shot over the stick side shoulder of Maple Leaf goaltender Vesa Toskala. Congrats to Jeff on his hard earned 1st NHL goal. Oh by the way the Caps won the game 7-1.

BEARS vs.Rats Recap
The lone goal scored in the first period was a point shot Albany's Nicholas Blanchard at the 14:35 mark. The period was not void of physicality however, with 2 fights taking place. In bout number one Chris McAllister got the decision over Wade Brookbank in a short lived tilt. The second fight on the card was Louis Robitaille and Mike Angelidis, this one was a bit longer with Robitaille getting the better of Angelidis in the punches landed column,I'm not claiming any of Louis' punches did any damage.
Albany got on the board just 5:47 into the second period when Mike Angelidis roofed a shot over the outstrecthced arm of Freddie Cassivi.Assists went to Nicholas Blanchard and Tim Conboy. During the second frame the Rats were handed 4 consecutive powerplays. The first two the BEARS PK held them shotless. The final two powerplays of the period carried over to the third. The Bears were held to only 6 shots during the period, none of which resulted in a quality scoring chance.
The BEARS were able to succesfully kill the two carry over powerplays to begin the 3rd period.Albany was only able to muster 4 shots on their 4 consecutive extra man chances.Despite the momentum that came with killing off the extended 5-on-3,the BEARS were unable to produce any scoring chances and thus any goals. The BEARS pulled Freddie Cassivi with 1:58 remaining in the third period for the extra attacker. The BEARS were able to mount some pressure but nothing was able to get past the Rats netminder in the final few seconds. Rats goaltender Michael Leighton has run his consecutive shutout streak to 2 games.
FINAL SCORE:
RATS-2
BEARS-0

Caps resign Alexander Semin for 2 yrs./Other Notes
According to Mike Vogel's blog Alex Semin has been signed through the 2009-2010 seasons. Semin will be making $4.2 mil in 08-09 and $5 mil in 09-10. There was no further update on the status of Caps captain Chris Clark.Clark did recieve stitches above his left ear after taking an Alex Ovechkin slapshot to the left side of his head in last night's game against the Canucks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pete Vandermeer, who was not resigned by the Bears this past offseason, is currently leading the WORLD in PIM's.Through 6 games played, yes i said 6, Pistol Pete eclipsed the century mark in PIM's with 101. Colin Fraser of Rockford is 2nd in the league,he trails Pete by 53 min.All I can say is WOW!!!! Louis Robitaille is 41st in the league with 19 PIM's. Louis has his work cut out for him to catch up to Pistol Pete.

Bears on a 2 game winning streak,3-2 in OT
Last night in New York's Southern Tier the Bears and Baby Sens tangled for the second time in as many weeks. Freddie Cassivi started his fifth consecutive game for the Bears and picked up the win to improve his record to 2-3-0 on the young season. Grant Potulny must feel as if he owns Binghamton. On the season Potulny has scored three goals, all coming against his former squad.Grant potted two goals last night, both goals gave the Bears a lead,1-0 and 2-1.The Bears had a 2-1 lead just under 3:00 into the final frame, when former Bridgeport SoundTiger Justin Mapletoft netted his first of the year for the Sens to tie up the game at two. The teams remained tied at 2 at the end of regulation. Kyle Wilson who has scored at least one point in the Bears previous 4 games, needed a point to keep his streak alive, and boy did he get that point. Tyler Sloan sent a cross ice pass to Wilson who kicked the puck from skate to stick and slide it by the out stretched arm of Binghamton goalie Jeff Glass.
FINAL SCORE
Bears-3(Potulny(2),Wilson)
Sens-2(Zubov,Mapletoft)
